Arcade1Up announced its next slate of 3/4-scale cabinets on IGN’s News, Games, and More livestream. The arcade-cabinet maker revealed five new machines for X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, Big Buck Hunter, Ms. Pac-Man, and a digital Marvel Pinball table. Arcade1Up’s Big Buck Hunter cabinet marks the first time the company has made a light-gun machine, while Marvel Pinball kicks off its line of digital pinball tables that it first revealed at CES 2020.
The X-Men vs. Street Fighter cabinet collects a number of Marvel fighting games developed by Capcom, including X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel vs Capcom, and X-Men vs. Street Fighter. Surprisingly, it also includes the SNES-only beat-em-up, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. The company also revealed a Marvel vs Capcom cabinet that features that game, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems, and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter.
The Big Buck Hunter machine boasts two light-gun hunting rifles as well as Big Buck Hunter Pro, Big Buck Hunter Pro: Open Season, Big Buck Safari, and Big Buck Safari: Outback. This is the first time Big Buck Hunter is being released for use in people’s homes, and it looks pretty faithful to what you’d find in pubs and arcades, too. It even features the Big Buck World branding that is commonplace on these specific cabinets.
Ms. Pac-Man is the classic release this time around, including the titular game, Galaxian, Pac-Mania, and Pac-Man Plus. It’s adorned with the classic cabinet’s panel art as well as the gorgeous control panel and bezel art. And lastly, the Marvel Pinball table is created in collaboration with known-pinball developer Zen Studios. It features haptic feedback and an accelerometer that lets you nudge and tilt the machine.
Arcade1Up’s cabinets are quite good, faithfully recreating the games they feature. We reviewed the Burger Time cabinet that released earlier this year and came away quite impressed.
“The BurgerTime cabinet is exemplary of the company’s dedication to create experiences that–while not exactly as they were back in the day–are roughly as good as you remember,” we wrote. “[However] the $399 price tag is a lot to ask for from most people. Arcade1Up’s 3/4-scale cabinets are awesome machines, but they’re only for those who are most passionate about the featured games. Thankfully, Arcade1Up treats those games with the respect they deserve, and anyone who cares about Data East’s classic games will find a lot to love in the BurgerTime cabinet.”
