Five Soldiers Injured In Shooting At Fort Stewart, Georgia

On August 6, 2025, a shooting occurred at Fort Stewart, a U.S. Army base in Hinesville, Georgia, resulting in five soldiers being injured. The incident took place at approximately 10:56 a.m. in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area. The shooter, identified as an Army sergeant, was apprehended by military police within about 35 minutes of the incident.

Following the shooting, Fort Stewart was placed under lockdown at 11:04 a.m., with all gates closed and nearby schools, including those on the base, also going into lockdown. The lockdown was lifted by 12:10 p.m., and authorities confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the community.

The five injured soldiers received initial treatment on-site before being transported to Winn Army Community Hospital and Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah for further care. Their conditions have not been publicly disclosed.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp expressed his condolences on social media, urging support for the victims and their families. President Donald Trump has also been briefed on the situation and is monitoring the developments.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation, and authorities have not yet released details about the motive behind the attack. Fort Stewart, located approximately 40 miles southwest of Savannah, is the largest Army post east of the Mississippi River and is home to the 3rd Infantry Division.
