Hip-Hop Mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs Sentenced To Over Four Years In Prison

Sean "Diddy" Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in federal prison, equating to just over four years, following his conviction on two counts of transportation for prostitution. The sentencing took place in federal court in New York City on Friday, October 3, 2025. This decision comes three months after a jury found him guilty on these specific charges, while acquitting him of more serious accusations of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

During the sentencing hearing, Combs addressed the judge, describing his past actions as "disgusting, shameful and sick." He acknowledged that the domestic violence he has engaged in is a burden he will carry for the rest of his life. His legal team had argued for a sentence of no more than 14 months, with credit for time already served since his arrest in September 2024. Conversely, prosecutors had sought a significantly longer sentence of over 11 years, citing the severity of his conduct and its impact on victims.

The conviction stems from a nearly two-month trial that focused on Combs's alleged conduct with his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and another woman identified as "Jane." The jury ultimately found him guilty of transporting individuals across state lines for sexual encounters, often described as "drug-fueled marathon sexual encounters" and "freak-offs." These charges carry a potential maximum sentence of 20 years, though the judge ultimately handed down a 50-month sentence.

Combs will receive credit for the 13 months he has already spent incarcerated since his September 2024 arrest. In addition to the prison term, he has been ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and will be subject to five years of supervised release upon his release from prison. The judge emphasized that a lengthy sentence was necessary for deterrence, expressing doubt that such crimes would not reoccur if Combs were released without significant consequence.

The case has garnered significant media attention, highlighting the serious allegations and the eventual split verdict. While acquitted of the most severe charges, the conviction on transportation for prostitution has led to a substantial prison sentence for the once-untouchable hip-hop mogul. Combs's legal team had previously had a motion for a new trial denied, and he was denied bail multiple times leading up to his sentencing.
